A remote hotel in a very quiet location. A good area for walking and accessible if you have a car. Think sheep and horses! The room was lovely and unique and comfortable. Fresh cooked pub food meant they were able to make me a non menu meal suitable for my dietary requirements.

Nice service with lovely staff. Recently painted to give a lighter feel to the bar area, which is nice especially this time of year.

Room was advertised as having an en-suite shower. What I had was a very small bath with a shower hose attachment but no holder for it on the wall (mainly because I was in the roof, so the wall was sloped so much the wall was the ceiling!). The only person that would be able to stand up in the shower would be a toddler - anyone else would crick their back, even the sink was in a low ceiling area. The only part of the bathroom I could stand up straight in was the doorway, which opened up into the loo.
The kettle was mouldy on the inside and had bits floating in it (not limescale, furry white bits), and the coffee was out of date.
As I had to be at Rutland early, I didn't speak to anyone about this until the second night - I received no apology for any of the above issues and was told the inn was full so I couldnt move rooms. They did agree to a 10% discount, and I decided I wasn't going to stress over getting any more.
My telly didn't have a remote, and I needed the wifi code, so I went down to reception to ask for a remote - I figured maybe they were kept there, but was told it should be in my room. I told him it wasn't and I'd searched all the drawers etc and he said well we don't have any spares... again, no apology. I got the wifi code and went upstairs.
I travel a lot with my work, and rarely have any reason to complain, but I have never experienced such nonchalance from someone in the hospitality industry - had I had an apology at any point for what I think are warranted complaints (inaccessible "shower", mouldy kettle, out of date coffee, and missing tv remote), I might not be writing such an extensive complaint, but I honestly wish I had camped at Rutland Water instead of paying to stay here.
